Parents: This page is made for you to access what we've been learning about in the classroom. The information below is made to keep you informed about what is happening in our school and school district.
Reading:
In the Branson School District we have adopted the Comprehensive Literacy Plan. What this means is that we have a reading and writing "workshop" approach to teaching these subjects. In Reading, students are instructed in small groups while the rest of the class are completing literacy activities around the room with a group in areas like Reading to Self, Reading with Someone, Working on Writing, Word Work and Computers. In addition, our school also has Reading Recovery and Lit. Groups for students needing additional help in reading as needed.
Math:
Branson uses EnVision Math for our math program. Students have a new math concept everyday. We complete the new lesson together on the Smart Board and then students get a chance to practice the skill on their own. For students struggling with any particular concept I work with them in a small group while the other students play math games further enforcing the new skill they are learning. Through the federal Title I program students having difficulty with math concepts will have additional help in this area. These students are identified needing Math help based on their scores from NWEA (a computer based achievement test taken in the Fall, Winter & Spring.
